	Schutzhauben und -klappen an Maschinen wie auch Türen in Schutzgittersystemen sind vielfach mittels Scharnieren drehbar gelagert. Das Sicherheits-Schaltscharnier SHS ist die konsequente Integration eines Sicherheitsschalters in ein Scharnier für industrielle Anforderungen. Der Einsatz des Sicherheits-Schaltscharniers SHS ist hinsichtlich der Bauform auf den Einsatz an Aluminium-Profilsystemen optimiert. Seine geringe Bautiefe, selbst im voll umgeschlagenen Zustand von 180°, macht aber auch den Einsatz unter beengten Einbauverhältnissen an Maschinen besonders vorteilhaft. Der Arbeitswinkel beträgt volle 180°, wobei die Einstellung des Schaltpunktes ebenfalls von 0 bis 180° erfolgen kann. Sicherheitsschalter mit getrenntem Betätiger sind häufig hohen mechanischen Belastungen ausgesetzt, besonders, wenn ihr Einsatz im Bereich der Schließkanten erfolgt. Die Überwachung der Schutzeinrichtung erfolgt direkt im Scharnier. 2 Schaltscharniere SHS, jeweils mit einem zwangsöffnenden Sicherheitskontakt ausgerüstet, ermöglichen den Aufbau eines Systems bis hin zur Steuerungskategorie 4 (normgerechte Risikoanalyse und Überwachung der Sicherheitskontakte vorausgesetzt). Der Manipulationsschutz ist sehr hoch, da der Sicherheitsschalter fast nicht mehr zu lokalisieren ist. Je nach steuerungstechnischer Erfordernis kommen ein oder mehrere SHS zum Einsatz. Da auch ein Leerscharnier mit identischem Design zur Verfügung steht, kann in vielen Einsatzfällen auf herkömmliche Lastscharniere ganz verzichtet werden. Dies wirkt stark rationalisierend. Der elektrische Anschluss erfolgt über Steckverbinder M12X1 in axialer oder radialer (rückseitiger) Richtung oder auch über einen Festkabelanschluss. Die Schutzart genügt IP67.
